I know how you all love to read about the tales of my dating life . . .
I mean, I do find some winners–like the smelly, rat-loving researcher, the mumbler and the self-proclaimed hippie/liberal, the mountain climber, and everyone’s favorite, Captain Corvette (<–one of the most popular posts EVER on this blog, and one of my personal favs).
We have so much in common.
Anyway, this weekend, I went on another date. And it was awesome. But before you get too excited, it’s not quite what you think.
No, that photo does not relate, but it’s kind of hilarious, right?
Saturday morning, I met up with my amazing and wonderful friend Corey for a “blate” (<–that’d be a blogger date), and we could not have had a better time!
But don’t worry–we only went to second base because I am a lady.
Quiet in the peanut gallery.
OK, here’s where it gets good. What we actually did was the best thing I’ve done in 2 months. Minds out of the gutter, people.
Yep, that’s right. 10 miles on the books! I think it’s safe to say that I’m back! WOOT!!!
I quietly started running again last week, but I didn’t want to mention it here because I’m crazy superstitious and I figured I’d jinx myself if I said anything out loud. So Corey knew I’d been running, and this lady (because we pretty much email back and forth all day every day), but otherwise? Kind of a secret. I guess if you follow me on Twitter or the Daily Mile this is old news, but anxious, nervous, crazy me had to hold out on you just a little. Just to be sure. After this weekend? I’d say I’m sure! :D
After an awesome run–that Corey totally rocked for someone who’s not used to running hills!–we celebrated with brunch!
A well-deserved bellini!
And a mimosa for my date!
We had the BEST time chatting and hanging out. Corey is seriously the coolest–I knew when she dropped an F-bomb within 5 minutes of meeting me that we were going to be great friends. ;) The conversation just flowed like we had known each other for years. So fun. Plus, our brunch was kind of amazing.
I had a giant egg white omelette filled with spinach and goat cheese while Corey opted for a savory crepe with tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, and creme fraiche. The whole wheat sourdough toast that came with had an herb butter alongside it was stupid good. Sadly, I didn’t have a huge appetite after the long run, but what I did eat was fantastic. I can’t believe I’d never been there before. I see a very expensive brunch habit developing in my near future.
Since our date was going so well, we hung out a little longer, strolling around downtown Ann Arbor and grabbing some Starbucks so we could keep chatting.
Our date ended with big hugs and an invitation to visit Corey in Trinidad. Um, yes please!
**Side note: Am I the shortest blogger ever??? Everyone I meet in person is so much taller than me! What’s the deal?
So Saturday was a screaming success–awesome long run, awesome brunch, and an awesome new friend for life. Best date I’ve had in a long time!
