It Is Nearly Impossible . . .

It is nearly impossible

when your limbs are twitching

and your feet are fidgety

and your mind is racing

and your shoes are lonely

When your pain is {mostly} gone

and the air is soft and cool

and the sky is gloriously blue

When you would give nearly anything

just to turnover your legs

that have been waiting

so (im)patiently

for 25 whole days

(and nights)

  1. Awesome! You’re doing the right thing by resting, you’ll see. It’s hard when your shoes are calling out to you, ‘take me running’, ‘take me running’.

Don’t do it! I feel your pain! BUT….that’s why I can no longer run! I didn’t wait long enough… I’m ruined and miss it! Keep resting, it’s worth it~ :)

  3. First, I do really like this post, but of course I feel the frustration from you…and understandably as well! Yes, especially with the weather as nice as it’s been, who the eff wants to stay indoors and watch others have glorious runs?! Infuriating. You will get back there soon, I know it’s sooo so hard right now but just do your very best to be patient. And if you feel the need to throw something to get some anger out, well then lady, DO IT :D

  4. I know how you feel! Well sorta, I’m not quite the runner you are! I was out for months this summer and I finally saw a physical therapist who gave me a bunch of things to do and said in 3 weeks I could run again. It took every bit of will power I had to wait all 3 weeks since i could feel my IT band getting better!

  5. This is awesome, even though the message is a sad one. I hope you get back to running soon and, in the meantime, find something that gives you the same sense of energy and accomplishment (a.k.a., baking me something delicious). Just kidding. Kind of.

Really though, you’ll be back out soon, but it’s great that you’re letting your body rest so that when you do hit the road, you’ll be better than ever!

You will be back in no time – this time away from running will make you love it that much more. I had knee surgery and felt the same way last year. Take this time to focus on other loves!
