After yesterday’s controversy, I spent the rest of the day working away and checking out a couple of condos. I found one I really like, so I hope I get it! Fingers crossed! I told the girl renting it all about my awesomeness, so here’s hoping she agrees that I’ll be the best tenant! ![]()
Last night, I went over to my friend Kim’s apartment for dinner with some girls I hadn’t seen in well over a year! These are girls I was really close to at the end of college and into my mid-twenties, so it was fun to hang out and catch up.
I didn’t get a picture of the whole group (for shame!), but I did take a picture of this picture . . .
Who does that?!? Apparently me.
We sipped on wine and had fancy stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer to start!
Now that we’re in our 30s, I guess that means we have fancy dinner parties? I had no idea, but I liked it!
For dinner, Kim made a marinated beef tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach.
Yep, I know some of you are cringing at how rare that meat looks, but it was seriously perfection. Wonderfully moist and flavorful. And this is coming from someone who isn’t even a big beef fan.
For dessert, our resident dessert specialist, Lisa, made us white chocolate crème brulee. Fancy indeed!
I admire a girl who travels with her own blow torch. ![]()
I ate mine and the little bit of Kim’s that she didn’t finish. No crème brulee left behind! I think I’ll start a campaign. Who’s with me?
After dinner, we cranked up some 80s tunes, played a little Apples to Apples, and enjoyed some quality girl time. It was exactly the low-key kind of night I needed with friends.
Since I am clearly a gazillion years old, I was home before midnight, but I could barely keep my eyes open. I can’t boogie like I used to, kids. Grandma needs to be in bed at a decent hour!
This morning I went on one of the most humid runs of the summer. It wasn’t even that hot yet, but I was drenched in sweat after just 4 miles. I’ll spare you a photograph, but let’s just say it was less than attractive. I guess I have to get used to bizarro Michigan weather again. It changes with the flip of a switch, I swear! Tuesday, I wore a long-sleeved shirt running and today it was a sports bra only. Then Monday, the high is only 70*. Oh Michigan, you and your weather antics . . .
Fresh from the shower, I whipped up a savory breakfast McMuffin of sorts.
Egg whites with parmesan cheese, turkey bacon, and fresh tomato on an English muffin. It totally hit the spot.
I also cut up a super ripe and sweet mango to have on the side.
It made me a little sad that this is probably the last mango I’ll have for a while. Maybe I’ll have to hunt around at the store to see if I can get one more before fall sets in for good!
Today’s another busy one . . . in addition to being the start of the Michigan football season . . .
GO BLUE!!!
. . . my beautiful friend, Ashley, is getting married! ![]()
She is going to be a stunning bride, and I can’t wait to see her! Love you, Ash!
Alright, gotta boogie!
What are your Labor Day Weekend plans?
Aw that sounds like a fun night with your friends! I don’t really have plans this weekend. Just to relax and get readjusted to life here in Boston!
Ohhh, the U of M posts hurt me! You should join us Spartans.
Neverrrrr! But I will say, the only time I don’t root for Sparty is when they play UM. Gotta support the home state teams! Really, the only team I WILL NOT cheer for is Ohio State. Loathe!
