Tonight, I met up for a weeknight workout with the Pavement Pounders!
Our race is in just over 2 weeks, so we worked it out with some speed work on the track tonight. Even though I was a serious track runner in high school, my adult self has some trouble mustering up the energy for track workouts on my own. I usually end up doing them on the treadmill, and it’s just not my favorite. I need move to room around and open up into my stride, and the treadmill just doesn’t allow for that!
The workout wasn’t until 6:30, and since I was home for work by 3:30 (we’re on an early schedule), I was left with a few hours to kill. Since I knew I’d be having a late dinner, I whipped up a St. Patty’s Day Green Monster! :D
Today’s Green Monster included my favorite mix:
1 frozen banana
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4-1/2 cup skim milk
a scoop of crunchy peanut butter (maybe a tablespoon or so??)
1 big handful of spinach
3 handfuls of ice
Blend ‘er up and slurp ‘er down! YUM!
After my snack, my hand somehow found itself in here . . .
. . . and I almost didn’t go to my workout. I was comfy on the couch and just not feelin’ it. But I rallied and got out there! And boy, am I glad I did! Once I got out there, it felt Great! Yes, that is “great” with a capital G! I loved being back on the loop and rocked out 5 X 800 meter repeats. My goal pace is around 8 minutes per mile, so I was trying to finish each one in about 4 minutes, but I was even faster on my last 3, completing them in 3:44, 3:45, and 3:48! I felt so proud! :D
By the time we finished it was dark, and I was starved! I stopped by Subway to grab my usual.
That would be turkey on Italian Herbs & Cheese bread, toasted with lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, extra pickles, and red wine vinegar. I get the exact same thing every single time. Am I the only person to do this? I just like to go with what works, ya know? It seems to me, most people have a Subway usual.

So here is where my conundrum comes in. Regardless of the fact that I order the exact same thing every single time, I find Subway to be a total hit or miss. Sometimes, it totally hits the spot and just tastes really really good. And sometimes, it’s just “eh.” Tonight was an “eh” night. What’s up with that? Does anyone else experience the same thing at Subway? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
Well, I’m off to guzzle water–not super festive for St. Patty’s Day, but I’m thirsty from that workout!
